Cartouche
Classical tablet with ornate frame.
Caryatids

Female figures supporting an entablature; their male counterparts are Atlantes.
Casemate
Vaulted chamber, with embrasures (splayed openings) for defence, within a castle wall or projecting from it.
Casement
Side-hinged window.
Castellated
With battlements.
Cast iron
Hard and brittle iron, cast in a mould to the required shape rather than forged. Compare wrought iron.
Catslide
A roof continuing down in one plane over a lower projection.
Cavetto
Classical concave moulding of quarter-round section.
Cell
One of a series of small rooms; also a compartment of a groin-vault or rib-vault.
Cella
The main body or enclosure of a classical temple, as distinct from the portico. Also called a naos.
