Close Studding

CloseGlossary Term [1] studding refers to upright timbers (studsGlossary Term [2]) set closely together. The usual effect can be compared with the use of PerpendicularGlossary Term [3] stone panellingGlossary Term [4]; the aim was to create an impressive show front.

Timber framingGlossary Term [5] was sometimes combined with stone walls as at Dragon Hall, Norwich.
