This incised plaster friezeGlossary Term illustrates the shipping of tea from China to Liverpool. It decorates the lobby of Union House, 1882, an office building with several provision merchants among its original tenants, including the Liverpool agent of Tetley & Co, tea merchants.
The middle member of the classical entablature, sometimes ornamented. Pulvinated frieze (lit. cushioned): of bold convex profile. Also a horizontal band of ornament.
