The most useful BIBLIOGRAPHIES are by Terry Wyke. His 'Nineteenth Century Manchester - a Preliminary Bibliography' is arranged under subject headings including architecture, art, housing, canals, railway, roads etc., and appears in a book which may be recommended in its own right, A. J. Kidd & K. W. Roberts, eds., City, Class and Culture: Studies of Social Policy and Cultural Production in Victorian Manchester, 1985. 'The Diocese of Manchester: An Introductory Bibliography' appears in Transactions of the Lancashire and Cheshire Antiquarian Society, Vol. 92-3, 1997. A Manchester bibliography is published annually in the Manchester Region History Review, which started in 1987.
